Forget about Tenerife or Madeira, it’s time for Texel!

About Foodware 365 for Dynamics 365 Business Central

While Microsoft used the island names Madeira and Tenerife for the development of Dynamics 365 Business Central, we used our own island of Texel for naming the development of Foodware 365 for Business Central. This popular holiday destination for both the Dutch locals, as well as for tourists from the neighboring countries, is the name given to our exciting new challenge in the upcoming period: creating the food solution on the Dynamics 365 Business Central platform, the solution for small to midmarket companies. And of course, we bring along and make usage of all the industry knowledge and experience gained during the development and implementation of SI Foodware. But this experience alone is not enough. There was a new challenge ahead of us as Foodware 365 goes further than a simple ERP (Business Central) – it focuses on the entire Dynamics 365 platform, including PowerApps, Power BI and Flow.

Challenges for the Texel project

Choosing Texel as our project name was a conscious choice. The island has many facets, and this will also be transparent in our project. Accessing the Slufter valley is dependent on the weather conditions, and so you have to strive quite hard in order to get to your destination. And our project will face its challenges and possible setbacks. But in the end, the main challenge for us remains acting quickly and adequately in order to give each other feedback, rise up and go on.

Project team Foodware 365 for Business Central

To meet these challenges in the coming year, a new project team has been assembled at Schouw Informatisering, consisting of solution architects, developers, functional experts and UX design. Together we will work on an inventive solution that uses the power of the Microsoft Power Platform. After the 3 month stress period of Microsoft’s “Ready to Go” program, it was time to further develop the team. And where can the team members better get to know themselves than on Texel? Exploring the island together and plodding. With a wind force of 7 on the bike, we were forced to encourage and support each other and that proved to be essential in reaching our common goal of exploring the island. Despite the hard weather conditions. During a 46 kilometer cycle tour, decisions were already being made by the team, taking into account requirements and the budget. We got to know Texel together, and even more valuable, we got to know each other.

A Power Platform solution for the food industry

Our team is ready for it. Together we are planning on going around Texel once more next year, with Foodware 365 on Business Central as our ultimate goals. A solution that helps companies in the food industry move forward, facilitates the daily processes and supports them with data and intelligence in making strategic decisions. And this is done with the help of Business Central, PowerApps, PowerBI and Flow.

I expect that in one year from now we will be as proud of the product and each other as we were on that day we jointly reached our goal on Texel. With one difference though, this time we will not celebrate with take-out food but with an all-out dinner! Go Texel!
